The Raquel

She may now fall under the genus 'surgeroid', but I don't care, when it comes to hot tamalies Raquel Welch has never lost her heat and spice. She married in 1967 in this little white crocheted number and captured the zeitgeist of the age.

These dresses say St Tropez; good time girl, artist boyfriend and frozen margaritas... I'm in. The oligarchs out there can sail on.

Cashmere by Tania - I am still kicking myself  for missing their grey Zoya  dress.

I felt that the squares and circles were a bit too 60's retro for me, I don't mind listening to a bit of CCR but I don't want to wear them, so  when I  spotted this dress on Cashmere by Tania's site, it was love at first sight.
This is what the Snow Queen would have worn if she had been spirited away by George Hamilton to  Zuma Beach.

"Frigid? Never, you just haven't been warmed up yet."

This is size medium, the large would probably have been better, as it clings  a little  to my lumps and bumps, and industrial underpinnings aren't quite my thing on a warm summer's day. The cotton is as soft as a snowman's breath and it's as comfy as a well worn t shirt, which is all I want from my clothes.

I'm tiny so it's not quite  as short on me as it is on the models.

It took me ages to pick out the right bare feet to accessorise this dress.
If it's true that, "accessories separate us from the animals"  then I am completely feral.

  1. Love the dress on you Tabitha. As for Raquel, well it's always an interesting statement you're making with a see through wedding dress. Reminds me a little of Pamela Anderson with her white bikini wedding. Laughing at the industrial underpinnings... you are quite right. Nothing worse than a hot day and sweaty, highly synthetic corsetry to put you off a little white dress. xx

  3. If spanx makes this dress for their summer collection then I'm in, or rather get in it. But Raquel to this day is amazing....you do look rather fab in it as well.

  6. You're the bomb, you wear it better than the models. I love the contrast between the color (virginal white) and the fit (gloriously skimming). I have always been in team Raquel rather than Ann-Margaret's.

  10. I love it. The black flats looked good in the photo but black patent open toed sandals would be cool.

That dress can double as a swim suit cover up.

  11. Tabitha you look very svelte and fit and that dress, it looks like it was made for you!
It does beg for some sunshine, an tropical ocean view, some Raybans and perhaps a cocktail.

  12. The dress is perfect for you! You look better than the iconic models/stars, by the way. (and they looked fab in their white dresses!)

  14. KNIT WIT or BACK IN THE LOOP or GET HOOKED(can't decide?) Tabs, Barefoot in the Carpet is perfect with that slip of dress. CCR just popped up on my random shuffle not 30 minutes ago. Lots of crochet on the recent runways. You look good as a relaxed hippie chic. Must be channeling your inner California girl.

  42. Tabitha, I am amazed at all of the gorgeous examples you found. The dresses really all look very au courant. I especially like the time simplicity of the one you chose- again, you have come up with another designer collection for me to peruse. You look lovely in the dress, and I think you chose the perfect accessories!

Marsha: Oh I've gained quite a bit recently I need to get on diet, I can't zip up any jeans/cords! We should try to urge each other on.

Knit Yarns: Your own design is till the best.

Julie: yes, I'm learning to size up now rather than go down that route.

Dani: They make beautiful clothes, I've only just discovered it.

      Thanks V & Phipi.

  51. Raquel's dress is the style I was going for on my wedding day, but as it was February when I was buying it, it was basically impossible to find, so I ended up with a white silk tunic instead :)
I'm adding a little white crochet number to my summer shopping list x
