Oh You Pretty Things

Smythson Antonia bag

Sometimes a few pretties are all it takes to shake the fear and loathing that exists within.

I've been lured by snobby duck eggs - "laid by The Ivory Duchess"
Well shake those tail feathers you hussy!

One of my favourite  labels in my wardrobe. There is something so  teasingly 1977/Sex Pistols about it.

Armani coat, J Crew jeans, Louboutins.

OOTD and before anyone asks, no I haven't thought about brushing my hair today.

Have a good weekend chaps!

  1. A well deserved bag. Suits you perfectly.

Hussy eggs? I love it. Love it love it. Along with your Loubs. Can I shop your closet soon? Thanks.

  2. I don't even like Louboutins anymore but I need to wear them out, I prefer 'quieter' shoes now.

  3. Couture ,couture ,couture you look lovely in everything! That last picture is my fav, absolute fav. Why not let someone brush your hair for you today? You are special and deserve to be pampered!

    1. Anon - that's hysterical! I will perch on a cushion immediately and demand a spot of grooming.

  4. Quit looking so glamorous. I sit here in my sweatpants which have suddenly become high waters over the season, my sports bra, green fleece top that hubs has grown to despise because I wear it all the damn time, and socks. I thought about working out but I'm not gonna. I did have an egg for breakfast (chicken). Lovely bag, I'd eat the duck eggs, and you look great.

    1. Blue Booby, I put mine on the minute I'm back home, do not be fooled.
Eggs are being really aggressively marketed here just now, its quite interesting.

  5. No need to brush them. They look perfect as they are. Love your coat,

  6. I'm really loving that Smythson bag. Smythson's on my list of shopping destinations for our visit in May.

And 7-8 minutes for a soft boiled egg?? Really? Is it because of the size of them? I'm a 4-and-a-half minute gal, but I'm talking organic grade A brown eggs from chickens (undoubtedly less pampered than your ducks).

  7. The Ivory Duchess!

All of our eggs have a "gelegt" date on them - date laid. Do yours? That was new to me, coming from N. America. I'm finally starting to enjoy German a little bit too, that's a pretty good word, gelegt.

That coat looks great on you and now I really don't think the Brora one is a good choice.

  8. As you know I have the small Antonia. It does make me happy just to look at it, I'm not ashamed to say it!
That coat is TDF. Quite similar in style to the Kate Spade coat? That silhouette suits you so well.

  9. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY Repeat swoon at Antonia for tablets, roses and dressing table (you knew that). See you've managed to get past the horrors of the jiggly white bit then. (Unless you are admiring the packaging instead of eating the contents.) And want to be a very unroyal duchess punk whenever I grow up (Tenenbaumish).
PS Hmm, wonder if the egg craze is because they are hermetically, non food factory sealed?
PPS Best weekend to you too Tabs, keep taking that coat and bag out.

    1. Eggs have been marketed anew for about the past year here, it's a big trend to give them fancy names and tell a whole once upon a time story about the birds' lives.

    2. Occasional quail eggs in more "gourmet" grocers here, but I've never spotted duck ones. Must ask at St. Lawrence Market Saturday.

    3. Geez, I'm behind the times-- my hens have led the life of Riley for some time now, unadvertised.

  10. Get Fresh, no they are for baking, that's my lot with eggs.
Dani: yes it is a bit I have thing for furry bottoms.

Abby - mine usually come straight from the farm, lured by marketing here.

DP: I think so, they are almost twice the size.

  11. Is the coat new? Gorgeous ~ so Dr. Zhivago-ish. And you know how much I love that bag.
Sold every shoe of mine with a red sole. Everything is ruined by over exposure these days.

    1. Kathy, no it must be about 15 years old now. That's how I feel about the CL's now, there's something a bit tack about them, but I loved them in the early days.

  12. The Loubs remain fabulous. This pair in particular is a style that has since been emulated by other designers and its still one of the best styles he ever made. Love them on you.

I am happy the duck ditches has such lovely living conditions. The eggs must be better because of it.

  13. Oh you do look ravishing. That Smythson bag is lovely too a very lady like choice.
I have never eaten duck eggs. How do they taste? Do they have a stronger flavour than those laid by hens?

  15. I think that bag is the sine qua non of pocketbooks. Perfection. It could lift the spirits of many. Oh eggs- my bete noire. No more appealing coming from ducks... Dani is right, the coats are similar in style, but it is a style that truly flatters you, and your bag. Smile today, you made me smile.

  16. Love this coat and your bag! Okay - you know I at one with the Duchess of Devonshire with my country pursuits - can you please, pretty please send a pic of a duck's egg offline? I am DYING to see one!

  18. What lucky Ducks to be so pampered. I assume it makes the eggs taste more refined and happy??
Looking fabulous as usual! I'm finding the oldies in my wardrobe making up the backbone of what I like best on me now. What's that about? Did I loose my good taste along with my smooth neck?

  27. The life of a duchess punk sounds like fun!

I have not seen duck eggs in the stores here yet, let alone eggs laid by poultry royalty. Oh, for the day. :)

  31. Tabitha, love everything here, especially your Smythson bag. I am saving up for one of their clutches at present AND I have a slight addiction to their website.

Have a lovely weekend, which I am sure will include delectable breakfasts with those deluxe eggs xxx

  32. I'm surprised they didn't build a hotel for the ducks with personal masseurs to ensure that the quality of the eggs are top notch :P That said, I've only just started buying Clarence Court eggs and I just can't go back to "normal" eggs.

    Wonderful coat!

  36. Duchess punk...! Must.have.this. A woman who can indulge in a duck's eggs and wear a size 10 is quite the broad.

  37. You have no need to brush your locks-- looks great as is. Is your 10 our 6 , I think? I am US 10 so that is 14-- I resist this.

  38. You have the best collection of coats - your duck eggs totally put paid to the boring cheese of the Month deliveries available here!

  39. I have never had fresh duck eggs - let us know how they tasted compared to chicken eggs! I am glad to hear you are feeling a bit more like your usual self. Looking at pretty things always cheers me up too! The Antonia bag would lift anyone's spirits, it is truly beautiful.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  40. I looked at the Posh Bird website and oh my the colours of the eggs just put a smile on my face. Never knew you could buy duck eggs. Clever marketing .
That bag oozes elegance. I'd put it somewhere so that when passing by I get a glimpse of it. Stunning Tabs.

  41. Love the coat, love the bag. You are always so elegant (says she sitting by the computer still sweating in Lululemon). You can't buy duck eggs easily here... My eggs come from my Dad's chickens (or chooks as they are known here). I can't say they're particularly pampered birds though. They live a life behind bars in Maximum Security to keep the foxes out who have caused absolute carnage in the past. xx
